Mark Alexander Williams, the designer and artisan behind the signature Durango Pipe Tobacco Cigar accessories, was raised in the Vermont countryside, in a converted 1890 cider mill. The old mill straddled a brook on a single lane dirt road one mile from the residence of Robert Frost.
Fifteen years in New York, Williams has married the craftsmanship Vermont is well regarded for with a fluency of modern design attained by years of formal study and work in the city.
"I've not yet designed an object I couldn't build myself." Williams notes "To me personally, it requires an intimacy with elemental materials and processes. I cannot fully separate design from fabrication, there is a constant tug-of-war between beauty and utility."
